Terms of service

Effective date: October 24, 2026

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using the ZeroSpoils mobile application (the "App"), or by accessing www.zerospoils.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") with 11895079 Canada Inc. ("ZeroSpoils", "we", "us", or "our"). If you do not agree, do not use the App or Site.

2. The service

ZeroSpoils is a food inventory and expiry-tracking app designed to help households reduce food waste. Features include:

  • Adding and managing food inventory with expiry dates
  • Expiry notifications and reminders
  • Shopping list management
  • Usage statistics and savings tracking

We reserve the right to add, modify, or remove features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

3. Pricing

ZeroSpoils is currently free to use, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. We may introduce a paid Pro tier with additional features in the future. If we do, subscription pricing, billing, cancellation, and refunds will be managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective terms - we will not directly handle payment card information - and we will update these Terms to reflect the paid tier before it becomes available.

4. Your account and data

ZeroSpoils is designed as an offline-first application. Food inventory and related data you enter is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining access to your device and any backups of your data. If you use the optional backup feature, the backup is stored in your own Google Drive account, and your use of Google Drive is subject to Google's terms.

You are responsible for ensuring that any data you enter is accurate. ZeroSpoils does not verify expiry dates or food safety information and is not a substitute for your own judgment regarding food safety.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App or Site for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers, networks, or infrastructure
  • Use automated means to access or scrape content from the Site
  • Impersonate any person or entity

6. Beta versions

Some builds of the App are offered for testing, through Apple TestFlight (iPhone) or Firebase App Distribution (Android). Beta builds may contain bugs, may change or stop working without notice, and may lose data, so keep your own copy of anything you care about. Beta access is free, can be withdrawn at any time, and is subject to the terms of the service that delivers it (for example Apple's TestFlight terms). Feedback you send about the App may be used by us without obligation to you. Optional features offered only to beta testers, such as anonymous screen recordings, are described in our Privacy Policy and can be turned off in the App at any time.

7. Apple devices

If you get the App from the Apple App Store or TestFlight, these Terms are between you and 11895079 Canada Inc., not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claim about the App (including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims), which is ours to handle. If the App fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country under a U.S. government embargo and are not on a U.S. government list of prohibited parties.

8. Intellectual property

All content, trademarks, logos, and software in the App and Site (including the ZeroSpoils name, our mascot character and artwork) are owned by or licensed to 11895079 Canada Inc.. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

9. Disclaimers

The App and Site are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

ZeroSpoils does not guarantee that expiry reminders will be delivered at any specific time, or that the App will be available uninterrupted or error-free. Expiry reminders are a convenience feature only and are not a guarantee of food safety. Always use your own judgment before consuming food.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, 11895079 Canada Inc. and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App or Site, including any loss of data, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of ZeroSpoils will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or CAD $10, whichever is greater).

11. Termination

You may stop using ZeroSpoils at any time by uninstalling the App. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms. If we introduce a paid Pro tier in the future, any active subscription will continue until the end of the current billing period, after which no further charges will be made.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the effective date above and, where practical, notify users of material changes via the App or email. Your continued use of ZeroSpoils after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
